Contest: Win Tickets to Hands on a Hardbody

Update: The contest is now closed. Thanks so much to everyone who entered. The winner was picked at random. Congratulations mB! And if you didn't win, I have more contests coming up in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

I don't know about you, but I'm ready to be done with winter. It's time to look ahead to the spring Broadway season. One of the shows I'm most looking forward to is Hands on a Hardbody, and not just because of the title. The new musical is about ten Texans competing to win a truck by keeping at least one hand on it for days on end. The book is by Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife), lyrics by Amanda Green (Bring It On: The Musical), and music by Phish's Trey Anastasio and Green. But the reason I'm most excited about this show is the cast, which includes Pataphysical Science favorite Jay Armstrong Johnson, Hunter Foster, and Keith Carradine. Previews start on February 23 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre with an official opening set for March 21.

In order to win a pair of tickets to see the show, leave a comment on this post telling me the craziest or most difficult contest you've ever entered. For an extra entry, tweet about the contest or retweet one of my tweets about it. You must be following on Twitter for the extra entry. A winner will be chosen at random from all the entries on Friday, February 8 at 5:30 p.m. Please include your e-mail address or Twitter handle in the comments so I have a way to contact you if you win. Good luck!

The craziest contest I've ever been a part of was submitting a news piece I wrote for a major scholarship.

Back when I lived in Michigan, I would participate in an annual local American Idol-type competition for southeast Michigan. I made the finals twice, but never won sadly.

The most difficult contest I was ever in was maybe the state spelling bee when I was in 7th grade; I choked on an easy word because I was so nervous, unfortunately!

Without a doubt the most difficult contest I've ever been a part of is lotto-ing Broadway shows. It doesn't matter how many or how few people are there, I will lose 9/10 times! I have no lotto luck or skills whatsoever!

The craziest contest I've ever entered was also a spelling bee. I was in the second grade, and I could have won the whole bee if I hadn't choked up on the easiest word, ever!

I would say the craziest contest I've entered was the Public Theater So You Think You Can Tweet contest. We had to tweet things about the Public, Shakespeare, theatre, etc. The person with the best tweets got to go to the Shakespeare in the Park gala that summer and live-tweet from the Public Theater account. The craziest part of all was that I won. I probably don't deserve to win this contest. And you already knew that story. But there you go. :-)

I once entered a Ninja-off in a campus screening of Kill Bill Vol 1 to win tickets for the upcoming sequel. I handily won!

I entered a radio contest where they played a portion of a bluegrass song backwards and we had to identify it.... Turns out listening to bluegrass growing up lead me to win an ipod!!

i'd say the most difficult "contest" i've entered was the 110hh at the national junior olympics. it was during the summer between my sophomore and junior years in high school. since the high school season was over, i had to train by myself -- which is to say very little at all. i ended up 3rd, and i'm pretty sure the guy who won had finished before the rest of us had cleared the last hurdle. that dude was a beast.

if that doesn't count as a proper contest, how about the rock of ages ultimate fan contest? you'd think the guy who had seen it 390 times at the time would have won, but you'd be wrong.

Can I steal Amanda's answer? That was probably the craziest contest I've entered too - the So you think you can tweet" - but she won that one so I should win this one :)

Slurring Bee. Like a spelling bee, but you take a shot after every round if you make it through. I won...not sure if that means I'm a good speller or a good drinker.

Competetive eating contest at Philly's Best in Irvine, CA. during half time of an Eagles game. Cheesesteak eating contest. I ate 4 cheesesteaks in 12 minutes. I came in 2nd during the 2nde half I went up to the counter, the MC asked what I was getting, and I said another cheesesteak that I could enjoy. he made sure I was comped the rest of the day.

I am long retired and about 100 pounds lighter than the day of the contest tho

The most difficult contest I ever joined was a kitchen redesign contest in which the prize was a trip for 2 to hawaii. Sadly I didn't win... Lost by 7 votes! Bummmer.

3rd grade: school sponsored a contest. They gave us a little tree to plant in our yards. I promptly forgot about the tree.

2 months later, we were asked to write a story about the tree. I made up a sob story about how my dad ran it over with a mower.

I was horrified when I won the contest, and had to read my essay over the intercom to the entire school.

Everytime i need a ticket to a high demand show, Ticketmaster can seem a bit of a contest. Everyone trying for the same thing: some will win, some will lose. That being said...I would like to hear 'Burn That Bridge' again ;)

The craziest contest I entered? It was for an art exhibition spot in a chimpanzee space in the zoo sponsored by Roots and Shoots organization launched by Jane Goodall. It was really a big deal for my middle schooler self at the time. I spent huge amount of time working on the piece and I won the contest eventually. Made my year. I think it was 2003 or 2004.

The craziest contest I entered was a crazy hat contest which involved having to parade around a swimming pool in front of a crowd wearing a crazy homemade hat. @mymusicboxes
